Abstract:

Album includes chiefly amateur photographs of California views and the family, social and leisure activities of Gilbert S. Walker, many taken during his years as a student at the University of California, Berkeley. Subjects include Walker's family and residence in Los Angeles (at 414 W. 22nd Street), U.C. Berkeley student life (including possibly a fraternity house on Ellsworth St.), and views of travel and leisure activity throughout California. General locations depicted include the U.C. Berkeley campus and various places in Los Angeles and Pasadena. Other locations and subjects depicted include Cucamonga (including the ranch of a Judge Manchester), Stoddard's Canyon, a "Mexican hut" in Riverside, San Pedro Harbor, Redondo Beach, Avalon (Catalina Island), Santa Cruz (including the Santa Cruz Water Carnival), Pacific Grove, Hotel Del Monte, various California Missions, San Diego, La Jolla and Hotel Del Coronado.
